Monitoring And Support

Database servers are central to any web infrastructure and are often a single point of failure. They are quickly becoming the most important servers in the datacenter and because of this, Tag1 Consulting is offering pro-active monitoring of these vital services.

We have two monitoring services available:

• Hosted Monitoring allows you to view graphs of detailed MySQL performance statistics, such as InnoDB Buffer Hit Rate, MyISAM Index Usage and much more. Our monitoring services also allow you to be notified when statistics dip into a "dangerous" range, which can be changed upon request for each server.
• 24x7 Support starts with all the same services offered with Hosted Monitoring and also includes our consultants on call for your infrastructure. In essence, this service allows our consultants to be remote DBA's for your servers. This includes not only being on call, but pro-active performance review to prevent problems.

Hosted Monitoring

Our monitoring service has two facets, historical performance graphing based on Cacti and an emergency alert system based on Nagios. With these two tools working together, you will be notified of possible performance problems and have access to detailed historical graphs of MySQL statistics to assist in debugging.

	We use Cacti with advanced MySQL monitoring templates to view historical performance graphs for your systems. These allow you to view trends and diagnose possible issues, before they become infrastructure critical problems. Cacti Monitoring Details
	We also have a Nagios instance that will send emails and/or SMS pages when problems occur. These range from as serious as MySQL crashing to the InnoDB buffer pool's hit rate decreasing. 24x7 Support

Our complete support package includes Hosted Monitoring, but instead of those tools mostly being used by your own staff, our consultants will act as Remote DBA's. This service includes 24x7 access to our consultants for emergencies and weekly pro-active reviews of monitoring reports, replication check-summing and MySQL Slow Query Logs.

• Database Server Reviews: Weekly pro-active MySQL performance reviews including reviews of server configuration, MySQL slow query log, and mysqlreport
• Drupal Performance Reviews: Regular Drupal-specific performance evaluations, providing suggestions on how to improve performance
• MySQL Replication Monitoring: Replication and replication-consistency monitoring, including regular MySQL table checksums to confirm that your slaves are 100% in sync with the masters
• Monthly Consulting Hours: Four hours of consulting each month for each website to address any issues that may arise, or any changes you'd like to have applied
• Additional Hours: More consulting hours each month can be provided at a negotiable rate
