One of the many benefits of the Tag1 D7ES service is that we notify you of any updates and provide security patches for all contrib and core modules you use - including free compatibility updates for Apache Solr! Apache Solr is a widely-used, open-source search platform that provides indexing, faceted search, and other features above and beyond plain-text string matching. Tag1 Team Talk

In the latest episode of Tag1 Team Talks, Michael Meyers, Managing Director of Tag1 Consulting, is joined by Tag1 Drupal experts Francesco Pesenti and Marco Molinari to discuss an essential update for Drupal 7 users: the integration of CKEditor 5 into the Tag1 Drupal 7 Extended Support (D7ES) platform.

CKEditor 4.x reached end-of-life (EOL) in June 2023, creating a significant challenge for Drupal 7 users: their trusted WYSIWYG editor now has known vulnerabilities that are no longer patched in the open-source community version. Drupal 7 End-of-Life (EOL):

If you’ve ever worked with software, or in software development, you’ve experienced the potential crisis that comes with an End of Life (EOL) announcement. Decisions must be made - do you upgrade, when, how, to what version, do you change software entirely, how much will all of these changes cost?

Lynette Miles

As the end of life (EOL) for Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 get closer, many long-time users of these platforms are concerned about whether they’ll be ready or able to upgrade their systems. While upgrading from Drupal 8 to Drupal 9 should be the easiest major Drupal upgrade ever, the upgrade from Drupal 7 remains a hard sticking point for many users and companies.
